Rescue, from the Denham Springs Shelter |
after Gustav, 09/2008 |

Goldie came from the Denham Springs Shelter. She had been there for 3 years after being abused by a man for one year. She is afraid of men and was not accepted by the different shelters on the California trip. She now resides in Washington State. |

Gwen came to the Muttshack shelter at Lake Castle School. She had her ears down and never sat up while there until just before they closed down. That's when we saw the beautiful markings on her chest. She now lives in Washington State and waits until the dogs are all sleeping before sneaking up to sit next to her new human Mom in order to get her evening petting. |

Miss Hissy had been an owner surrender with the thought of the owner getting her back. But Hissy was 15 at the time and her owner said she wouldn't come back to her home anyway. She asked if she could stay in Washington State so it would be less stress on her. |
Hissy suffered a blood parasite after Katrina and was fortunately caught by a volunteer Vet Tech. She also suffered a body hernia most likely from trying to get out of the flood waters. Due to her age, it was decided that surgery was out of the question. However, it does not seem to bother her at all. She is part lynx and has no tail and has little tufts of fur on the tips of her ears.
She is definitely a "Cutie" pie. |
Her original name was Teufel. |

Cloe was rescued just as the Muttshack location was closed in November 2005. She was first thought to be 6 months old. But when I saw her, I knew she was much, much older. I had the current vet take a look at her and she totally agreed with me that she was at least 15 years old with one tooth left. |
A person called after seeing her photo on Petfinder thinking she was her cat. But her cat was under 1 year old. She was so sad. I asked her if I could name, who we called at the time, "Hello Kitty" since a meow she had sounded like a person saying hello, after her missing cat. Thus, her name became Chloe. She just passed away quietly in her sleep on 02/17/2010.
